Make It, Market It, Heartland Style

Mike Neustrom tells his story of how he discovered a way to break into farming without having a clue. If anyone had explained to him farming is hard work, he probably wouldn’t have chosen this as a retirement activity. Still, he learned to make a living doing just that.

Mike tells of how he learned from others, did lots of homework and developed a brand and a style of approaching farming, advertising, marketing, and product development. This was accomplished while growing lavender under conditions ranging from -20 F. to over 120 F. degrees with high winds in an area completely unfamiliar with herbs.
